Minority Leader’s Reaction to expanded gaming legislation

BOSTON—House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. issued the following statement in response to Speaker Robert DeLeo’s expanded gaming legislation.

I look forward to having a full and transparent debate regarding expanding gaming here in the Commonwealth. The plan laid out by the Speaker appears to be a good starting point but there is still much work ahead. The issue of expanded gaming is complex and it is our duty to see that we act in a responsible manner while working to maximize revenue.

When the bill is released, I plan to read every section, line by line. We as a state cannot afford to get this wrong and it is my great hope that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle take this issue seriously and work together in a bipartisan manner to make the expanded gaming legislation the best it possibly can be.
